What is Obesity Surgery?
Obesity surgery, also known as bariatric surgery, is a surgery performed on obese individuals to reduce the amount of fat in the body.

What Types of Obesity Surgeries Are There?
Restrictive type: In these surgeries, the nutritional pathway does not change, only the amount of food taken decreases.

Malabsorption Surgeries: In this type of surgery, the absorption of food is disrupted, food passes directly to the small intestine, and the aim is to reduce fat-carbohydrate absorption.

Mixed Type: These are methods that reduce both the amount of food consumed and its absorption.

Sleeve Gastrectomy: It is a restrictive type of surgery. It is the most commonly performed bariatric surgery method all over the world. Its most important advantage is that it does not impair absorption.

Gastric Bypass: It is a mixed type surgery. There are different types. The stomach volume is reduced and the stomach is connected to the small intestine. Provides fast and effective weight loss. Its most important advantage is its metabolic effects. Its positive effects, especially on diabetes, begin immediately after surgery.
